Anyone know if there is a terminal program for Cybiko in which I can say connect the serial cable to a port on a managment port of a network switch and connect and manage the equipment and make changes? The program would need to be similer to the old DOS procomm program.

(I can do the similer thing with the palm pilot)

Well alright, I believe I got the app loaded; but when it runs it shows it can't find comport.dl

Ok.. Now that I am talking to myself.... (and getting answers)

comport.dl is in the SDK, Cybiko works fairly well as a VT100 terminal. The only problem is that the screen resolution is too small and there seems to be no way to produce CTRL key (like Ctrl-Y).

Also the connection with the serial port line is a null modem adapter, if you want to use it with a modem or other network equipment like I have you will need to get a null modem adapter (Radio Shack $6 - 9 pin male to 9 pin female).

nawww -- you're not just talking to yourself
(it's just that noone else felt like speaking up.)

on 03-18-2002 18:06:53 jhd3rd discussed his own Cybiko app to echo typed characters to the USB/serial port, and posted a message to the lengthy thread on this message board titled "Cybiko Web Pad":

Well I was able to complete my serial port echo client with minimal effort. Just couple hours and I was able to hack up the supplied examples in the SDK to do what I wanted. I have a classic attached to the serial port on my PC, then I use another cybiko to send wireless messages. Whatever I type on my cybiko comes out of the serial port on the other unit and gets displayed in a terminal window. This should allow remote control of anything with a serial port interface. I'm thinking of using the Girder remote-control software. It has a serial port plug-in that should be able to read whatever I send and control anything on my PC. I don't think it would take much effort to make the communication 2-way and make this a wireless terminal. Not bad for a $20 investment!

Lil' Bigdog is doing great... 5 months old and growing like a weed!!

I also got my Palm Pilot from work to do the same, the terminal support is a little better (larger screen) and supports keyboard macros with ctrl codes.

yeah well there's no data on that topic. I need to know if anyone has any Idea on how to make a cybiko work with a cellphone's anttenae chips and boosting the RF as well as reconfiguring the programming for simple windows type programs along with the Idea of changing the media slot to be used as a different extension for multimedia flash cards Like smart media cards or the ones you can get for most digital cameras. Any Ideas on how to mod these things so the extreme and classic are 100 times better than they are now???
