shakes my head) , boy what a dummy user you were, you DOES need a software like planetbrowser or other program like gnu linux ,the main reason is the hareware driver has to be loaded into and avicates the hardware ,you can't just plug it in and just power up expexting a link light ,don't use a crossover cable to a hub ,the crossover cable is for linking between 2 dc or a pc to a dc or a pc to pc
if you're hooking up to a hub ,use straight through cat 5 network cable
