First of all...I was not intending that to be competition to the E-Pod...I was just pointing out that if you were gonna get the epod and add a bunch of storage/networking/software to it, then you might be looking for something similar but more functionality...of course I realize the price difference...
Second...the epod as a $200 does not make any money for them...they probably lose the money in hardware and try to make it up in ISP costs...and hence they are out of business leaving alot of epods for sale for $200. In actually, if someone were to build a similar device today (ie: 3com, sony, etc), the actualy hardware cost with no contract where the manufacturer actually makes money would be more along the lines of $500 or more. And instead of spending that kind of money, the laptop would be able to do all that today wirelessly with plenty of power and storage and connectivity options.
They never sold the epod as a generic machine people can play with for $200...it was sold as a device someone could use their monthly service with...
