Hosed install with 1.2 easy?

New MessageHosed install with 1.2 easy? (modified 0 times) mfkap
I don't know how I did it. Actually, I do know how I did it. I applied everything for the 1.2 patch except I did a soft reset before I did the registry update. The first one I did worked fine, but this one just won't work right now. I just get a white screen when I try to re-apply the 1.2 now, and if I do a hard reset/take the battery out for 2 weeks, when it boots up I get put into the file manager with the epods bar across top. For the record, I changed epods system/dialer/epods.exe to the filestor.exe app. Any suggestions on how I can get this thing back to normal or get it to have the wince shell on it?

Mike,
I'm not sure what you meant by 'changed epods system/dialer/epods.exe to filestor.exe app. You definitely don't want to mess with the epods.exe file and location. The ePods references this file during every boot. I think your best bet is to return the epods.exe file back to it's original location and follow the steps defined in the following thread;

http://www.linux-hacker.net/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=EpodsOne&Post=753&Idle=0&Sort=0&Order=Descend&Page=0&Session=

This should get you back to a fully functional WinCE shell.

If you read step 6 on the epodsfiles site, it says to replace the file epods.exe with the empty epods file or the filestor.exe file. I think that I did this with my last one and it worked fine. Now my problem is that I can't change it back.

Whoops. Yeah, I see what you mean. I downloaded the linked epods.exe file and performed both the 1.0x and 2.0x hacks without a hitch. Try that, or if you're still stuck, download Glitch's virgin epods files and start from scratch, http://www.geocities.com/epodsfiles/index.html. Once you've successfully completed the 1.0x hack, I think you'll want to perform the 2.0x hack (much nicer). Good luck.
