Lucent WaveLAN Bronze troubles
Just like it says...

New MessageLucent WaveLAN Bronze troubles (modified 0 times) Pat The Hack
I've recently aquired a pair of Lucent WaveLAN BRONZE PCCards (wanted to incorporate my ePods into my wireless network - currently Nokia based). While I've not tried them in the ePods yet, I have tried them in 2 different Mac Powerbooks, and 2 different laptops (running W95 and W98). All of them recognize the card, but Windows reports a Driver error (0009) and the Macs report a
MAC of 00 00 00 00...

The lights don't flash - nothing happens. Are they just bad cards, or am I missing something?

Thanks,

Patrick

You might try reflashing them to the most current firmware. Go to www.wavelan.com or give their tech support a call. They are open 24/7 and are extremely nice (really).

Before u update the flash though you have to be using the Orinoco drivers. Still not happy with Orinoco drivers for CE as they lock up when taxed. They do have a patch for another CE device but it is very device specific...wonder if anyone has tried to look at the patch yet...

Wouldn't you know it - the first computer I put the cards in is a Powerbook G3 running version 1.1 of the Airport software... Seems when it notices an older card it tries to re-flash it. Unfortunately there is a bug in that version of the software that takes a functioning card and tells it to contemplate its navel... I found this article...
