Terminal Services / Orinoco hanging problem.

New MessageTerminal Services / Orinoco hanging problem. (modified 0 times) Nezza
I'm using an ePod with an Orinoco Wireless Card (Latest driver version 6.28) connecting to a
Residential Gateway (Orinoco RG1000) and then to a Win2K Terminal Services server.

The setup works great, UNTIL it hangs occasionaly. I'll be browsing the web using Terminal
services and then the ePod will just hang, it doesn't respond to any key presses. The power button stops working
and the only way to get out of it is to soft reset.

Once I soft reset I can re-connect to the old terminal services session and continue browsing!

I thought this problem was fixed in the latest version of the Orinoco drivers???

I'm using the lastest versions of everything, terminal services client 1998 Build 9117 (I presume this is the newest?)

If I look at the version info of the Orinoco client I see the following:

Driver Var1 V6.28 Build 132
Driver Name: WLLUC46
Orinoco Client - Var 1 V1.02
Primary Firmware - Var 1 V4.00
Station Firmware - Var 1 v7.28

Anybody experienced this or have a fix/workaround?

Thanks for your help.

I was kind of seeing this occassionally and assigned epods to more program memory and it seemed to work. The old problem related to drivers was the flaming icon or a loss of network connectivity totally unrelated. I have upgraded my epods to 2.x and 32 megs of internal memory and a 64 meg CF card. I am using WAVELANS Bronze, Silver and Gold cards. Since my NP connection was shut down last week have my firewall dialing up via POTS line and noticed some slowdown on epods connecting to TS but not enough to justify not using it.

6.28 is NOT the most recent drivers. See this other thread for more information:

<sadlerjon> thanks for catching that as I did not. Updating the Bios did fix flaming icon (loss of network connectivity). It also seems to help with connection distance as I can now use my Epods at my neighbors house; before I could not.

Sadlerjohn, what do you understand to be the latest version number? I downloaded the spring release of ce 2.12 drivers from the Orinoco site.

Nezza... just checked and it appears that u are using latest software and firmware. Try increasing amount of CE programming memory.

Pete, I increased the program memory last night (to 11 MB total), so far so good although I've not been running it for hours.

How much program mem do you have allocated/free?

Pete, if you add a cf card this can be used as program mem or straight data file storage?

You can do both with CF memory. The more you use or shift to CF the more app memory u have.
