I've been using my Epods for a couple of months now with no real problems. (1.02 easy hack, CE shell, terminal services). I noticed today that a thin horizontal line has appeared about 1/3 of the way up the screen. This does not go away with a soft reset. Has anybody else had this problem?

I have had some "lines" on mine since I got it. I figured it was just the display. Some vertical, some horizontal. Sometimes they are visible, sometimes not, depending on lighting, what's on the screen, etc. It may be the same thing you are experiencing, I don't know.

Pipexman: Have you tried turning it upside down and shaking it??

Sorry, I couldn't resist .

I have seen lines on my machines also, but it is only when they are cold. After they warm up the display is fine. Could you post a picture of the screen so we know what you are talking about?

Electronics run on smoke, if you let the smoke out they won't work

Hmmm...the line has dissappeared and evertything was fine - but now the PCMCIA slot refuses to see my network card. Nothing has changed with the config or sofware, it's just stopped working! I just get 'Unidentified PCCard Adapter' and 'enter the name of the driver'. I've done a hard reset, but still no joy. When the Epods was fresh out of the box, the network card was correctly identified as Grey Cell NE2000. The card still works OK in a laptop so I guess it's probably a hardware fault with the PCMCIA slot? Any thoughts?

Every once in a while I see stuff like this. No lines though. I usually just warm boot a couple of times and it fixes it. I would not suggest reinstalling drivers until you have tried that. I would also increase your program memory. Here are some of the things I see:

- storage card is corrupt..do you want to format it. I have never reformatted it, just have done a warm reboot.
- some of the desktop icons disappear where they are there but not graphical.
- assigned two buttons quit working.

It could be a weird combo of some sort of memory leaks that play with the registry.

A soft reset (hitting the reset button on the back of the device below the label) usually resolves this. Ensure the device is on when you do this for best results.

Note: Do not hold the power button while pressing thr reset button because that is a HARD reset. You don't want to do that.
