Dead PCMCIA Slot - Will a CF ethernet card work?

New MessageDead PCMCIA Slot - Will a CF ethernet card work? (modified 0 times) Pipexman

After many hours this weekend I still can't get the PCMCIA network card to work again. (hard-resets, copying virgin epods files etc..) I'm now thinking of using the CF slot for networking, but before I part with more £££'s my question is:

Does anyone know if the Socket LP-E CF card would work or does the CF slot share the same support chips as the dead PCMCIA slot?

I'm really not getting anywhere with this problem and any help would be greatly appreciated....

I can't answer as to whether a CF ethernet card will work, however, are you certain it is the PCMCIA slot? Have you tried the modem back in the slot, and is it also unrecognized?

I was just thinking it may be the network card that failed and not your ePods...

good luck...

If the PC card socket is really dead, then it's likely the CF slot won't work either, but it might be worth a go if you can borrow a CF Ethernet card.

They appear to share the same controller: the PC card shows up as "Slot 0", while the CF slot is "Slot 1". Goood Luck.

Thanks guys, I've tried two different network cards - still no joy. The modem is recognised in control panel correctly and in pegterm, but when I hit connect, I get a message saying that the 'specified modem is unavailble'.

Are you using the serial port while you try this? I remember somewhere someone said that you can't use the serial port and the PCMCIA slot at the same time because of IRQ conflict. I personally have not had a problem with using both at the same time, but I figure it is worth a try.
