How surprising! A search for your user name only showed up with a TON of questions and a lame suggestion that we "email" files to ourselves (did you get that advice from a monkey?). I CAN'T BELIEVE you even tried to say I "have participated in every hack that has come through here" and I can't believe you call yourself a hackeR!!!! AHAHAHAHAHA Don't even bother searching for my contributions because I never made the claim to have a bond with any of these people and I wasn't trying to act all elite. Here's a sample of your lame questions:
Hi All again,
Well I hard reset found the system folder. Thats cool. I have created all 3 files in the \epods system\dialer directory (all 3 with the name of joe in each (this just for following the directions anally). Turn the unit off, turn it back on, but it still comes up with a login screen. Have gotten it to connect though. Neat tablet. Can the browser be upgraded? How do you shut this thing down (CE novice)? Just hit the power button? Good question was asked in another post... can you play mp3s (enough horsepower)? What can you do with this thing outside of being a cool Palmpilot?
Getting a little clearer (Thanks to everyone on the hack).
How do you get the 3 files from the net to the epod, since these are the files that control active sync. (I have not gotten mine yet, just trying to be ready for when.) I suspect that after you do the ctrl-key mambo around the login, then you run the file that acts like dialup networking (what is that called) that was referenced in an earlier post, download the files (does CE have anything to unzip the 3 file zip file)into the app. directory (shake and serve). Does this sound right?
After you install the CF, how does it show up? As another drive? Would you get to it through 'explorer (files)'? Pardon the ignorant question, but I have not had the opportunity to play with a CF before.
Where can you get this 'xaudio' program? I have tried to download several diffeent types of CE programs (browsers/decompressors/etc) from CEmonster, but when I try to run them, I get a message of 'not a valid CE application'. What flavor of CE program do I need to install on this puppy? There has got to be a catch.
Thaks for the info. Well I gueess I am back to the question of which 'null' cable works. I have read that you can go to Best Buy and their cable works (could not find one there though) and that the laplink cable does not work. I have also read that you cannot trasfer via USB. So is the only way to active sync is with a null cable made from the specs on the BBS? Anybody interested in making one 4 sale or trade?
Thnkgrn
Did you even try to figure out anything? I feel SOOOOO sorry for you.
