I am sure everyone has noticed when running on battery power and reading an ebook or not tapping the screen that after 15 seconds the epods backlight powers down by 50% to save power. Very irritating when reading an ebook. Has anyone had any success finding this in the Windows CE registry to extend the time? I have looked everywhere without any luck. I suspect that it is inside one of the operating system programs. I tried disabling battmon.exe (Battery Monitor) and that didn't do it. Anybody have any ideas?

I don't have my epods handy, but I think the answer is a checkbox somewhere in the ezex (or is that exez?) program...

Thanks Guac_a_mole. EZEX.EXE did the trick. I wonder why that program is buried deep in the Windows directory and isn't set up in the standard control panel?

Yellow1 - I have just started playing around with ebooks. I get an ebook from:

http://www.promo.net/pg/

They come in standard .txt files so I can skim it over in wordpad and see if it is worth reading. If I like the book I then convert it on my PC into a .PRC file using the Windows CE version of:

http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/DownLoadPublisherStep1.asp

Then I can transfer the .PRC file to the epods and begin reading it using:

http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/DownLoadReaderStep1.asp

The advantages over the mobipocket reader (.PRC) vs. a .TXT file is that you can change your font size, it remembers where you left off in the the book, you can highlight sections and a bunch more. Now thanks to Gauc-amole I might actually start reading since the dimming of the backlight was very irratating.

slimtim: On the stock ePods ezex.exe was assigned to the rightmost button. I think this is a good place for it since the display needs constant tweaking to keep it looking its best. You can reassign the button by editing the registry.

Ahhh, Thanks Glitch. I was wondering why my fourth button brought up the control panel when I could just as easy bring it up in Start/Settings. My epods was already hacked when I bought it 2 weeks ago off ebay.

Here is another source for ebooks: http://etext.virginia.edu/ebooks/ebooklist.html
