I don't know about XT-CE, but I have PocketDOS working. PocketDOS is supposedly more advanced that XT-CE anyway. I have the old Turbo C for DOS working on it as well as QBasic and some other old DOS junk. Hard to use with no kb though.
XT-CE does run on the epods, and I am running an old but large GWBasic (or Basica) program that talks over com1:9600 and plots in screen2 graphics mode.
It's not terribly fast, but does keep up with the com port and generally works well.
