Lo all,

Alright I'm new. I've read back about 60 days on the board, enough to know that Glitch is god...:) Anyways I am looking into a web pad, and trying to figure out which I like the best before spending what to me anyways is a lot of money. What I want to know is if the keyboard on the epod is good for regular data entry.

I saw a lot of posts about caligraphy, so was wondering if the keyboard sucked and that was why everyone was looking for an alternative.

Much appreciate the info.

Onscreen keyboard is OK, but for "regular data entry" do you mean heavy amounts? It would be fine for moderate amounts such as small bits of data or numbers, not for writing reports though...

Calligrapher is an AWESOME handwriting pack, it can read almost anything once you get the hang of it. It even gets many people's signatures, it is amazing.

The epod does not have a hardware keyboard; the on-screen keyboard works fine, but it can cover up important areas of the screen (especially in double-size mode) and has to be moved occasionally.

I have used the double-sized on-screen keyboard to touch type with both hands, and while a bit small, is pretty easy to use.

For short messages, the on-screen keyboard or Calligrapher handwriting recognition is fine. For longer messages or data entry, your best bet is to attach a cheap USB keyboard. That is how I am composing this message.

Has anyone tried the Cue Cat PS/2 to USB adapters Radio Shack is selling on the Epods yet? At just under $10, they would seem to be ideal if you wanted to use a PS/2 keyboard you already own.
