| Search the threads, I tried this with my MicroDrive. To maximise stress, I played MPEG video on a MicroDrive in the PCMCIA adapter. Battery lasted 3 hours 50 mins, down from the usual 6 (to even 8) hours. However, I was constantly accessing the drive and MPEG is pretty intensive. Access time is really not important, the ePods itself is the bottleneck.
In short, yes, it eats power. For me that's OK, the low cost (compared to flash) for the large space was worth it. | |
