I have gotten the LeArtery (cheap) 802.11b cards to work in my ePods!!!
I don't know how. I have hard resetted and used all kinds of settings and nothing worked.
I was sitting here, turned on my ePods, and put the card in just now. I saw my desktop wireless indicator flash green in the tray and I can browse my PC! I can't access my control panel to see what me settings are though...that problem won't go away (even after reinstalling 2.04 and numerous resets!

Glad to hear that you got the Learty cards to work. Ordered one yesterday and I'm anxious to see if they are truly 802.11b compliant, and can communicate with my D-Link cards in ad-hoc mode.
As for your Control Panel problems, are you using the Prism2 drivers? If so, rename or delete the PRISMCFG.cpl file, and you should be able to open it up. The LeArtery cards have been confirmed to work with SMC 802.11b stuff by Groch (see CF-01 board) so I think they are truly 802.11b. A real steal at $50, no :)
