I'm still waiting for mine to arive and have some neat plans for it. But I would like to hear from others what cool and usefull things they have done with their epods. ^_^

Just one app I might get to work will be useing VNC on the epod to remote my main PC and watch the video input feed :)

I used VNC on my ePods with the Linksys WPC11 wireless NICs.
This setup was used to control a large tape library, a robot
that swaps 140 tape cartridges into 9 different tape drives.
It was cool to be able to walk around the building here at
work and run the robot with the ePods.

Wow that is cool! As soon as I put the wireless system in the office I'm going to use my epod to VNC over to the network monitor machine so we can see all our bandwith usage, switch info, etc while in the server room working around the racks.

Things done with my epod:

Remote Control MP3 server (play MP3 on server, selecting files with epods, web interface)
Moniter Workflow/Efficiency at the office
Notes at meetings
Remote control of homebuilt Digital Video Recorder(web interface)
Remote control of CDR server over Terminal Services

Things on todo list:
Install exchange server so I can use Outlook Web interface to have full access to outlook features(contacts, calendar, etc)
Design a MS digital dashbord interface on my IIS 5.0 server especially for the epods small screen size

Overall I am pretty happy with Web speed and quality of handwriting recognition on my epods. The larger screen size makes it more useful (in some ways) then my iPaq.

Used the epods as a terminal for a pair of SUN Enterprise 6500 refrigerators, eh servers.
Nothing like having 2x (10CPU, 10GB, 56 SCSI disks) and a 100MBit connection to the internet behind your epods. Although try entering ":g/^\$9.95/s//\$\$\$ON SALE\, CALL\$\$\$/g" (in vi) via handwriting recognition.

Terminal Services on EPOD through wireless NIC, to manage a 4-node Windows 2000 Datacenter server cluster which is connected to a half terrabyte SAN.

Let not forget for playing 'Bubbles'

I would think that Ricochet on the bus/train is pretty cool but haven't done that personally.

Looks cool for file and print (probably cheap too) but not for multi instance multi clustered SQL with distributed partitions.

Have you used them..?? Whats the price like..?? How do they compare to Network Appliance..??

Oh, and so not to kill the thread, wouldn't it be cool to stream video to the EPOD using http://www.snapstream.com

i have indeed used them...right now they don't work with SQL or any other type of database that runs on microsoft...it's a microsoft limitation, not the product's...

here's the cool thing, something NO other product can do...as you need more space, you just plug another one in...there is no reconfiguring, no downtime, nothing...and it is nearly infinitely expandable

it works on a clustered setup (lose one appliance and you are still up)...so as you add more storage, you also add more network connections and processing power...it actually gets faster! no other product offers that either

here's the kicker...they are $5700 MSRP (for a 129GB appliance)...no other product with anywhere near the capabilities is anywhere near that price
