| The promotional blather advertises Windows CE (v3.0, natch) on it. Do you suppose that means a real CE with real Pocket Excel, Pocket Outlook, etc.? (They only mention Word explicitly.) They also refer to Pocket IE, the "latest" with support for 128-bit encryption (and presumably, working bookmarks).
If one of these really has a full CE shell, and assuming one of them finds its way into the hands of a dedicated hacker, might this lead to some new hopes for the perennial questions about Pocket Excel, Pocket Outlook, IE 4+, and all the other glories of real CE that we ePods People are deprived of? Or is it going to be too different at the hardware or ROM level for anything on it to help us?
On a separate matter, I wonder, why does the promotional text for these sorts of things *always* have to refer to "sitting in the sun" when you can't see the screen when you're in full sunlight? Isn't "relaxing on the sofa" just as appealing and at least vaguely realistic? Sometimes I think marketing people (no offense if any are here) just aren't happy with any ad copy if there isn't at least one glaring lie in it. | |
