Hello,
I am currently a student interested in purchasing an epod unit. Before I do so I was hoping i could get a few questions answered:

My goal in buying an epod unit is to indefinately be able to stay connected to the internet through a LAN so that I could run AOL instant messenger (for windows CE) in order to stay connected with my freinds and family while away at college.

If this is possible my second question is this.........

While indefinately connected to the internet does windows CE include power management features or is their any power management program out there to allow the screen to shut off (not just go blank) after a certain idle period? Alright, that's it.. Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.. Tony D.

Well, the ePod uses very little power. I don't think it has a "screen saver" or powersave mode to shut off the LCD only, just a powersave turn-off. It pretty much just shuts down completely and is exactly the same when you turn it back on. However, I don't think programs keep running. So if you get an imcoming message, it won't turn back on (I think that's what you are getting at). You should have no problem keeping it indefinitely connected through a LAN as long as it is on though.

if you want to use messaging and stay permanently connected to the internet, buy a computer...the epods is great, but not what you are looking for, really...use the $350 you would spend on an ePods at eBay and buy a cheap computer, a much better option
