For those of who got into the free aircard deal, have any of you tried this modem with epods. Let me know if any of you got it to work with this puppy OR if you know if this can work with epods?

I have one and yes it works great...but only at 19,200 bps it seems. I haven't tried any of the third party proxies though.

It's slow, but probably the best option for mobile internet on epods.

Note: I did update the modem on my laptop before using it on the epods...don't know if that was required or not.

Hi,

Could you please let me know how you installed the drivers for aircard 510. Was it using activesync?
Do you have a link to the drivers you used?

In your post in linux-hacker.net you mentioned that you updated the modem on your laptop. I am a newbie, how do you update the modem ?

Your help is appreciated !!

Thanks,
Cyberguy

Got one too, and I am surfing via a Terminal Service connection through my home LAN. Still pretty darn slow, though.

Ok, here's how to install:

Download drivers from here: http://www.sierrawireless.com/SupportDownload/AC510s_HPCpro.html

While connected via Activesync, run the installation program. You will get an error stating that the device is not supported. That's ok, just note where you installed the files on your PC, probably something like: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\AirCard 510 Handheld PC Pro for Sprint"

From that directory, locate the file "AirCard 510 Handheld PC Pro for Sprint.HPCPro_4000.cab" and copy it to a temporary directory on your ePods.

Double click the .cab file on your ePods and it will begin to install. You will get another warning that the device is not supported but ignore it again, and follow the prompts.

Install your Aircard, and it should be detected properly.

Hope this helps. Oh, and I'm fairly certain that you need to run the firmware upgrade from a laptop first. It's located here: http://www.sierrawireless.com/SupportDownload/firmwareAC510.html
