Has anyone tried the demo version of this Nydiot software on the ePods? It allows virtual resolutions to be created on CE devices. They have a new 2.11 MIPS version. I'm hoping I can run Terminal Services in at least 800x600!

I'm going to try and install tonight - I post my preliminary results

Nope. Been wanting to try but pessimistic and lazy. Please post results.

I installed the app on my desktop, but I do not have my ePods synch'd with that computer. I took the MIPS cab and grabbed it over the nextwork onto the ePods. Install appeared normal, but the 5 or 6 applications it installed are 'missing components' - I moved a DLL in the instal directory, but nothing. Soft reset, still nothing. Anyone else try?

It works! I installed from the 2.11 cab that is decomressed from the install utility and it works pretty well. The best feature I've see is being able to rotate 90 degrees for reading ebooks and MP3 playlists. Impressive stuff. Terminal Services color limitation makes TS a little tough, but it looks good at the higher resolution. Free demo on the site... try it, I think you will like it.

I confirmed the link of the Nyditot webpage is wrong and brings up the WinCe 3.0 install file... you have to download the 2.11 file.

NVD201_CE211.EXE is the correct, working file (during install of thr NVD201_CE211.CAB it says it is not for the ePods version - but ignore the error - it actually works! - NVD201_CE300.EXE is the WRONG file (but it still installs fine, without the error version message, yet doesn't work). Go figure.

Wow, looks great a great development... What do web pages look like in compressed 800x600 resolution???

They don't look better than at the default resolution, but you can definitly see more. I would say the higher resolutions are better for browsing than reading - but any text that is 'too small' to read can be instantly 'zoomed in' on and it looks perfect. At higher, non-compressed resolutions, the zooming works pretty well too. It has crashed on me a few times, but a quick soft reset and everything is back to normal.

wonder how well that would work with Citrix Metaframe.
I have an iPaq PocketPC and I really haven't found these screen orientation/compression programs (NYDITOT or JLandscaepe) very useful. Anything above the native resolution is pretty much illegible and the pan function is really a bit of a pain...
Since the ePods has a large screen, it might be a better fit !

I installed the 2.11 MIPS version successfully (i.e. no errors when clicking on cab file) but when I launch the program, it states that the evaluation period has expired and requires an email address and reg code to continue. I've never installed it before, and the Nyditot support forums at pocketnow.com state that there should be a "register later" button. Did anyone else have this problem?

I would also agree application is best for reading E-Books in portrait mode. The 800X600 resolution a little bit difficult to read and updates to the screen are kind of slow. Running well though. No lockups so far. Good price for a needed application. Earlier this past year saw a hack (and regedit adjustments) regarding another app to be able to use portrait mod on the EPODS.

I also got the "registration expired" message. Seems like a total dead end. :(

<HunterGreen> For HS/general surfing its a little bit too small...check out the Fujitsu 510 info on Fujitsu 1200 BBS....large screen
easy to read and faster than the Epods...

Not using it for HomeSeer right now, mostly as a notepad and ebook reader and GPS, with plans to also make it an RPG aid.

Ok, I registered the software (for use on another CE device) and got past the registration screen, but now when I apply any changes it resets to a blank black screen. The ePods is unresponsive and I have to soft reset to return to normal. FYI - I'm using v1.02 of the hack. Is this why it isn't working?
