I have a cable modem with a typical ethernet jack. If i attach a cable directly from the modem to a Linksys WAP11 Instant Wireless Network Access Point, will it transmitt internet without a PC?
Sure. Setup your linksys to provide a DHCP address to your epods and you're ready to surf....s..l..o..w..l..y IE on the epods is slow to render anything but the simplest pages. I've resurrected an old 266mhz pentium running w2k server with terminal services and using the epods a terminal. Even though the server is only a 266, it's still a much faster solution.
Not even with DSL high speed broadband? I cant share this through my PC, it says in the manual that i cant, is there a way around that? I have RoadRunner. I haven't bought an Epod yet, and if i cant het my high speed, whats the point? could anybody tell me if its worth 200 buck?
The speed issue isn't the internet connection it's the time it takes IE to render the page once it's downloaded.
If you use terminal services, you're not sharing the internet connection in the usual sense. You're remote-controling your PC desktop. If you buy a linksys wireless router you'll be able to do what you want with no cables.
