Linux issue on ePods webpad. (I'm almost there)
Booting into WinCE, inserting SolidState Flash with linux system partition, boot into Linux from WinCE

You people call yourself Linux-hackers and you put-up with WinCE on your ePods?

That suggests the average ePod forum poster in linux-hacker.net is iliterate. You people should be ashamed of yourselves for tolerating WineCE on your ePods and boast about Linux being the greatest and most compatible kernel in history.

I already can bootup WinCE on my ePods, insert my LinuxFromScratch-based SolidState 32MB PCMCIA Flash Card, boot out of WinCE and into Linux, and I have Ice WindowManager running ontop of XFree86 and slow SVGA compatibility rendering. I'll be working on replacing the ePods' ROM image with a bigger ROM image of LinuxFromScratch upon Linuxkernel 2.4.20, all stripped modules of the linux kernel, and SYSV init scripts in the ROM.

Why hasn't anyone done this before? You're all wasting your time with WinCE and the 2.04 hack.

You know what might get your message across even better? Perhaps you could try to be a little abrasive. Yeah, I know it's not easy, but there are a few tricks that make it easier. Putting words in other people's mouths is good. Unwarranted assumptions are also pretty effective. And whatever you do, don't share useful information in a collaborative effort!

Oh, and one more thing, be sure never to use sarcasm. It never works.

HunterGreen: LOL. I was wondering what school of motivational speaking/writing that he attended <g>.

AnonymousCowheard: Running Linux on a ePods has been discussed here before. Those that want to run Linux on the ePods are doing so. Those that want to run CE are running CE. I would be interesed in hearing about anything unique that you have done with Linux on the ePods.

It has been attempted before and people's attempts have been published for linux / netbsd on the epod. I dont recall seeing any contributions to that discussion from your handle in that thread.

Give us some specifics on getting a linux kernel to boot (Bootloader, kernel source branch, toolchain, etc)? I have been following the linux-mips project on and off and wasnt aware of any new developments in getting a kernel to boot on the epods harware, either published here or elsewhere on the net.

I do not tolerate running WinCE, so it has been shelved since my last attempt at getting this to work (almost a year ago). I am not attempting to work on it until I see a kernel boot and redirect console to serial (I do not have the tools to get to that point myself).

Puting up specific info, instead of cheerleading, will give you more of a response.
