Tried the Epods1XP hack - now the machine is busted!

Can anyone advise me, I installed the Epos1XP hack as described, soft booted then hard booted - got a message saying that it can't copy the /epods system/help files and then stops with the 'getting your epods ready for use...' message.

Is there a way I can get my epods back???

Well I reset the DOC and went through a V2.04 reinstall as described, at the last soft reset, the screen comes up OK, but after the hard reset (when the IFC program is running) it still says that it can't copy from \epods system\help and then freezes (although I can bring the keyboard up, but it doesn't work)

In \Win_CeFiles you should have a "HELP" folder with a "keepthis.txt" file and an "IMAGES" folder with another "keepthis.txt" file inside. If you don't have those files and folders in there it won't be able to copy them over after a hard reset. Can you use ActiveSync (PC Connect) or something to put those files in the Epods_System (Epods_system becomes the Win_CeFiles folder)?

Yes, I confirm that the directory and files are there in the ePods System\help directory - but the ifc application fails on copying them. I have made them read-only and still got this error.

Hi, I made the ePods1XP hack and I would be very interested if you could tell me which hack (apps or no apps) you tried to install and with as much detail as possible your process for installing the hack. I haven't had any problems with the hack and I know other people are using it, so I'd like to try and locate the issue so it doesn't happen to other people. The hack doesn't do anything "tricky" all it does it make the 2.04 hack pretty basically. :)

Yes, I'm not blaming the hack (it was the one without the apps) - just I'm puzzled by this wierd effect that some of the directories that I put into ePods System seem to disappear when I do the hard reset. I followed the proceedure as described - when it didn't work, I reset the DOC using the RESET method, and tried again, and again....

Did you already have the 2.04 hack installed? If you did, I think you're supposed to put the files in /WinCe_Files/ instead of /ePods System/. Do you have both of those folders? I think /ePods System/ becomes /WinCe_Files/ after the 2.04 hack. Anyway, there are only a handful of new files in the ePods1XP with no apps version. Maybe I can tell people to just install 2.04 and then overwrite a few of the files that make up the ePods1XP hack. Have you ever been able to install the 2.04 hack?

Yes, I did have v2.04 hack on the machine - and yes, I was trying to put the files in ePods System. I'll try putting them into wince_files and see if that helps.
