Hi,
I've tried and tried to get activesync to recognize my ipod. i put the 3 files (WCELOAD.EXE, CESHELL.DLL, and ASFORM.DLL) in the /windows dir and in the /epod system/ifc dir. and intalled the program on my xp machine. Activesync doesn't see the epods on com1 as it should. I know com1 is ok because i use it with another device. I tried making a null modem cable using adapters from Rat-Shack and i tried buying a Belkin 9pin-f to 9pin-f from CompUSA. Still no luck.

I'm thinking that my machine is lacking some needed files.

This machine was purchased from my employer (a huge department store chain) that i think got it from the ill-fated epods
people to try and get them to sell them (they didn't)... i paid $1 :)
When i first booted the machine i didn't have to crack it or hack it, it only gave me an error that it couldn't find epods.exe.
I installed the XP1 w/apps hack and thought that would fix it but i still can't sync.

any ideas ??

thanks!

I am having a similar problem having trashed the IFC transfer whilst attempting to install the XPhack. I've followed jkgamers suggestions in the 'dead epods' thread and get the blank desktop up (blue desktop with empty gray menu bar at top) and having alt tabbed to the task manager can start repllog.exe. However the active sync does not seem to take place. (I have tried with machines running both win2000 and WinXP) null modem cable into com1 both with no success. Any advice to get active sync running so I can drop the flies needed into the /windows directory would be greatly appreciated.

I will add to this thread rather than create a new one and see what happens.

I don't see the point in using Active Sync to transfer files from a desktop if a CF card and card reader are available.

I have installed it but the null-modem cables seem to be rare...I found one in England.

Installing programs using Activesync is easier than locating and installing the cab files directly for some users.

I just received my epod from Overstock.com. Battery doesn't hold a charge...oh, well. Instead of Activesync, I'm using a PNY 512MB CF that I purchased from office depot. http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=577846&&An=text

On special $39.99 with a $10.00 rebate = final cost $29.99.

How did you get the CF card to read into your ePods. I put my CF card into my Dazzle reader and plugged into my ePods but I got a message to type the name of the device, which I don't know.

Merely plug the CF Card directly into the CF card slot on the left hand side of the ePods. You may have to perform a soft reset for it to be recognized. I can't say if a USB card reader will work under Windows CE 2.12.
