AC Power Adapter

Just bought an ePod off of eBay, but it did not come with a charger.
Any ideas where I can get one?
Will any 10volt power supply work?

Radio Shack has them. Anything with the right size and polarity of tip, and the right voltage, will work.

Thanks fo the info, but you have hit on the crux of the matter.
I have no idea what the polarity is.
Can someone out there with a meter check to see if the positive is on the tip or the outside?

Also, I have a zillion wallwarts and even one of the RadioShack universal ones, but none of them
are 10 volt. I wonder if 9 will get it going. My intention is to mount this to a wall and always
run it from an external power source, so I do not really care if the battery charges.

cullen_simpson: You probably won't find a 10v adapter. The ePods is the only device that I've seen that calls for 10v. It is very likely that it will run from a 9v adapter. There is also a very good chance that it will run from 12v. The stock ePods adapter is 20watt (10v @ 2a). Use a power adapter with a similar power rating (or higher) for your experiments. Watch out for non-regulated adapters. They supply a higher than rated voltage at low load. They rely on a given load to achieve the published output rating. Also, I recall that the ePods power plug is a strange size. I'm sure that I could dig up a part number if you need to replace the plug on your wallwart.

Thanks.

I actually did find a 10V adapter at Radio Shack and coupled that with their "B" univeral plug.
Seems to work just fine. I think this adapter was intended for a Super NES system or something like that.

I now have a working ePod and I am trying to figure it out. I have wireless Linksys card for it and I am trying to follow instructions from a post about 2 years ago on getting that setup. However, I keep transfering the driver setup programs to a CF card and then trying to run them on the ePod. It keeps telling me that they are not valid WinCE applications.

I try them on my desktop machine and it then the programs complain that they need to be run on a CE device. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I simply need to get the WLAN100 stuff to the ePod.

This device has been pre-hacked to 1XP I think it is called. However the guy I bought it from seems to have deleted quite alot of the programs that were on it as the links do not work.

Anyway, if you have any ideas I would appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Cullen

cullen_simpson: It's good to hear that you found a A/C adapter that works. Would you please post some info on the adapter (like part the number, etc.) so anyone that is looking for one in the future can get one easily.

I forget what causes the "not valid application" error. I recall that the fix was simple. It was something like a missing dll or registry entry. If you have a .cab file you should be able to install the program/driver from it. I think that there needs to be a simple registry fix to make the cab install work. Unfortunately, my memory was never very good and is getting worse. I'm sure that the procedures are documented somewhere in this forum.

As far as the software build goes... Consider doing a reinstall from scratch. It's not that hard and may solve the other problems that you are having. At the very least you'll know what is on the machine. A known configuration also makes it easier for people to help you debug problems. HTH.
