Really 640x480 resolution?

New MessageReally 640x480 resolution? (modified 0 times) osuuma
Ok, so we find out that the Epods is 16-bit color capable. But what is the true resolution? I mean, what resolution is the LCD panel designed for? I am trying to justify buying one of these gizmos, and it is kind of hard.

I have a computer called a Copernicus by Sharp. It has a 8.4 inch 640 x 480 active matrix touchscreen, runs winblows 95 and is about the same size as the ePods. Sure the ePods sounds like fun, but I wonder if I am just not appreciating what I already own.

This computer was sold in the U.S. as the Norand Pen*Key 6632. Here is a url with picture and specs.

http://www.intermec.com/products/6632.htm

The advantage of the ePods is that it has lower power consumption, lighter weight, USB ports, and lets face it, a whole lot of support from the good folks here.

I have been waiting since December 15 for Amazon to get ePods in, but I suspect they never will. I hate to pay the Fingerhut shipping and tax.

Any opinions (besides flames)? Thanks

Wow, Osuuma, I love your pen-based computer! Thanks for the link. Well, given that you own that one, why do you need this one? Excellent question. You probably don't. Yours includes PC card capability, runs Win 95 (and maybe Win 98?), and has a TFT screen. My advice for you is, stick with what you've got. Just curious, though, how much did your unit cost? The major appeal of the ePods is that it's a bargain and pretty fun.

Randy, You are going to hate me. I bought the Copernicus for $40 at a flea market. It was sold by a pawn shop owner who didn't understand Japanese, so he had no idea of what it did.

This same vendor also once sold me a Sharp Zaurus MI-10. This is a color Zaurus PDA with a digital camera.

Here is a Japanese web site with pictures of the MI series color Zauruses.

I guess I just like to collect technology, and I wondering about the ePods.

By the way, is the ePods really 640x480, or is it higher, and the driver is just for 640x480?

Thanks

Wow, where is this flea market? :) - the only ones I have experienced sell mostly pocket knives and crap. Sometimes with the pocket knives falling under the crap category depending on their quality. Heck, if you wait maybe the e-pods will show up at your market for 5 bucks or something.
