| Well, I don't have it to offer, but things have matured since 2001/2002. I'm checking out opie, and it would take a little work, but can be done.
On the http://www.handhelds.org site there is a porting guide available about how to procede when starting a port.
If this does not scare you away you are welcome to make the linux port. Most people on the Opie list won' t be able in helping you with the port but handhelds.org has some highly competent guys. You might want to join on irc (irc://irc.freenode.net #handhelds) to get questions answered. Michael O. might be a good starting point to get help from though he has more experience with ARM CPUs.
