Considering buying an ePod. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone. I've been looking at the Salton EP1 ePods Handheld Computer for the past few weeks and I'm considering ordering it. Unfortunately, I can't find a good site that gives me enough description to make up my mind. Basically, I'm a college student, so I want it so I can take notes in class, do a little homework, get on the internet, and use AIM. That's about it. So, does anyone know if this is the right thing for me? Or do you know a good information site? Any help is appreciated!

Based on what you wrote, you will probably be disappointed with an ePods. Think of more as a large PDA, rather than a small computer. If you would be happy doing all those things with a PalmPilot, and just want a larger display, then it may work for you. For what you are describing, you may be better off with an used pentium 200 laptop (assuming that you are budget limited).

The ePods are great little niche machines. The problem is finding the particular niche that works for you. Most of the people that I know that are extremely happy with the ePods use them for as a single purpose machine. Some of the uses that I know about are home automation controller, eBook reader, or light duty couch surfer (wireless web browser with Terminal Services). I've never heard of anyone being happy using an ePods as their primary, general purpose computer.

HTH.

Well, I have a desktop, which is what I plan on using for most things. The ePod is mainly to take some notes in class instead of writing it all down on paper, and then maybe just surf when I'm bored. I understand that it basically serves these purposes, but is it really worth it? I guess it's what I need, but I just want to be sure it will actually be something I can take good notes in and won't be a big disappoint to me. But thank you so much for your advice!
