Have you tried any of these files into your \windows directory to see if they help?

MFCCE20.DLL, MFCCE211.DLL, OLECE20.DLL, or OLECE211.DLL.

I had problems with the Linksys software for my wireless card - I ended up needing 2 of these for it to work correctly.

Great guess but eReader doesn't need those files.

The PE header in eReader.exe and utildll.dll are both flagged CE 3.0 (epods are CE 2.12)

You need to change it from 03 to 02 00 0B using a freeware hex editor on your PC. Change both files, then copy them back to your ePods.

Here's an example:

ok I went through the hex editor. Made the changes. Now the you have a visble icon like you should instead of the exe icon. But when you go to open the program it says it has performed an illegal operation. any other ideas. Thanks by the way.

I'll try it as well. Another ebook reader would be great.

re: Adobe Acrobat - I could not get it to work. Ansyr Primer PDF viewer does work. It is not free.

I looked at eReader on my Pocket PC using a Process Viewer. It it using aygshell.dll. I run BeePod on my ePod and it has a dummy aygshell.dll but eReader still won't run.

Sorry to hear that HaaliReader is no good for you. BTW, I guess no other reader programs can read secured mobi book except mobipocket reader itself (I have mobipocket 4.5/4.6 Pro on my epods). Also, most time it would be easier to convert your ebook on your PC to a more popular format, such as txt I like most.

For me, I almost exclusively used a modified version of HaaliReader (mainly for better support of chinese characters, it has chinese interface as well) which works great on my epods (my epods has been hacked to support chinese character input and display). For those who do not know, the haalireader can support .txt, .pdb (uncompressed), .prc , .png, .bmp .gif .jpg, .htm/html, and files in .zip. Also, it has some kind of support of .chm, .pdf and isilo as well
