ePods Hack Problem

Hi,

I just purchased an ePods on eBay. The problem is that it seems the unit I purchased was returned after being hacked (or attempted and failed). It did the calibration thing, asked me to wait, then it booted to the "corporate tyranny" screen. The keyboard and control panel buttons work (it comes up with "power" "display" and "backlight dimming") but that's it. No Internet, no set-up screen, no access to folders, and the upper taskbar does nothing.

My only thoughts are that it's looking for programs that may have been on a CF card (that wasn't included), or the person messed up the hack and just sent it back broken...

Any help or hints on how to get it running, or to get to folders via keystrokes or combinations would be really appreciated!!!

Thank you so much!

Margot

Discovered "ALT-TAB"...phew! But my epods.exe doesn't bring anything up...nothing having to do with the dialer or the internet is responding

Slowly but surely...got online via the 56K PCMCIA modem...seems it was set up for ActiveSync rather than the modem Now...shudder...to try the XP hack! My fingers are crossed...and by this time, so are my eyes!

Thank you, Marko!

I love the ePods...but the modem is way too slow. I just picked up a compatible wireless card on eBay, that should help. I'd love to find drivers for my usb floppy drive and CD-ROM...seems there's just so few drivers for CE 2.X. I wonder if 3.0 drivers will work? Do you know of any ePods driver sites?

I have a i-opener...I just don't have the flux to do the 32MB upgrade. Do you know if it makes a huge difference in speed?

Have a great day!

Margot

You can try these USB floppy drivers:
http://www.yedata.com/support/fbuce101.zip

“Windows CE driver Ver 1.01 (ARM MIPS SH4)
This driver supports Windows CE 2.11 (Handheld/PC Pro 3.0) and
Windows CE 3.0 (Handheld/PC 2000, Pocket/PC 2002).”

I don’t think increasing the ram on an epod will help with app speed unless you run multiple apps and need the ram. Using BeePod, it’s easy to have 10mb+ free ram – no real need for more. The XP hack uses more ram than BeePod.
8 bit color display will speed things up a bit if you don’t mind the lower quality. A developer named Tim created an app named RegSet. It is hosted on the Yahoo Group site. It makes it easy to change between 8 bit and 16 bit color.
