Yeah, there are a bunch of us here at work that got ePods w/ Aironet 4800's working fine. All you really need is a single DLL. Let me know if you want me to email it to you.

Fant,
It's not on the pcliquidator webpage but
the webpage is 4800LT.html and there is a model 4800LT.

Anyone have an idea how much the access point base stations run? I've seen prices in the 900-18000
(yes, $18K... type aironet in at shopper.com). This is far beyond a similar Linksys WAP11 for $225.
Will the 4800 work with the Cisco Aironet 340/350 series, or is there a cheaper (discontinued?)
Aironet line? Would this card work with a Linksys WAP11?

My ultimate goal is to have multiple wireless devices running through my cable modem, which currently
runs off of a Linksys BEFSR81 for my hardwired LAN devices. I assume I can take a WAP and hook it
into the router/firewall with no problems. Would it also be possible to just use one of my existing
computers as an access point if it had a wireless card?

Maybe this is the same as the last guy's question.... not sure...
will two of these Aironet Wireless cards do addhock or peer to peer
and talk to each other without an expensive access port or is an
access port required?

Ubik and I have ordered a few of these cards from PCLiquidator and will try them. They seem to be compatible with Cisco Aironet cards but Im concerned bec one link in an earlier thread referred to the LT model specifically as not compatible with other Aironet products but in the same breath claimed them to be 802.11b standard...maybe they can only do ad hoc peer to peer and cannot use an access point ??? we'll see soon enough (hopefully by the end of the week).

BTW, the Cicso Aironet 4800 cards work great on our corporate LAN (browse file servers, browse web, IMAP to Exchange Server)

The 340 series card works flawlessly with my Epods. Just copy the aironet.dll file into the /windows directory, then insert the card. Wehn a popup appears, type in the file name: aironet.dll, setup your ip info (I use DHCP), and you are off and running.

Make sure you use the correct ce driver. The 2.11 works, the other did not.

Could you provide me with the necessary files for the Aironet 4800? Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced, compatible PCI card for ad hoc networking? APS@UREACH.COM

Thanks in advance!

Wireless cards seem to only come in the pcmcia form factor -- so for the three (!) desktops in my house, I had to buy isa-to-pcmcia adapters for them. I found mine on ebay, they go for a wide range of prices ($15-$50). The PCI or ISA wireless cards you see are really pcmcia cards stuck onto these types of adapters. (Well, some have external antennae welded onto them, but you get the idea.)

Go here: http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/aironet-utils-ce21 and choose the MIPS driver and utilities. This is what I use. Let me know if you have any problems with them. Once they're unzipped, no need to do an ActiveSync install. Just copy the DLL to the WinCeFiles\IFC directory. I put the utilities into another directory (preferably on a CF card to save space)
