Can I use my EPOD to launch MP3's on my MP3 server?

New MessageCan I use my EPOD to launch MP3's on my MP3 server? (modified 0 times) Nezza
I thinking about the following:

Using an EPOD connected to a Wireless LAN, selecting an MP3 file to be played ON the MP3 serving PC (which will be connected to my stereo).

Therefore mobile access around the house to my massive MP3 collection!

Any thoughts on how to do this?

Hey thanks for the reply, great minds and all that.

Excuse my ignorance but when you talk about terminal services I presume you mean running Windows 2000 server on your PC with MP3 files?

What do terminal services allow you to do? Is it like PCAnywhere?

It's simialr to PC anywhere as to what it does. It runs fast on the pod which makes it better than PC anywhere or VNC. It is also a seperate session from you actual desktop or working environment. So its all in the background and the desktop, strat bar, favorites, etc are tailerd just for your epod login. You also get all the functions of your desktop on your epod... matter of fact I was running photoshop 5.5 on there just yesturday... kinda hard at 640x480 but I got the job done and then networked the iage over to my epod for a new wallpaper.

Terminal Services is part of the win 2000 (I am running server). There are a number of threads going into T.S. on the board already so any detail past on it or its setup i'll leave to those threads...

I've heard that it's slow, but you could try VNC. Search yahoo for it.

I've already written a really basic Java-based remote MP3 player (thin-client control on ePods, server on your MP3 box)... I'll probably be working on it more next week (adding playlists, REW/FF controls, time display, etc) and if it gets to a point where it's pretty nice, I'll post it somewhere... All you need is PersonalJava on the ePods (free d/l from Sun)- and since it's Java, you can run the client from any machine on your network.

I'm working on a simple cgi-based application to do this with WinAmp on Windows. When I have it working I plan to post a link to it (with source). So far, it is working pretty well for basic functions.

I'm new to the epods and would like to know if this can be done. I have looked on board but have found nothing. I remember finding something about media player 7 but can't seem to find it anymore. I would like to use ts to run mp3's on the server running windows 2000 server. Thank you

BeOS has Be In Your Stereo (BIYS). It's basically a web interface to the catalog of mp3's on the Be system. It's designed for exactly this kind of thing. You can get Personal BeOS (it's free) and BIYS on http://www.bebits.net

I've been considering using this in my truck on a small pc and having a wireless connection to the epod as the interface.
