How many of you run webservers at home, or have a PC you could run a Microsoft compatible web server on?

I have an application at work that I use all the time. It is an ASP-driven web MP3 player. It uses Windows media player embedded in a web page to play MP3s you select off a list. It then streams the MP3 over the network and plays it locally.

I use it at work because I can't get any radio signal here. I have hundreds of MP3s loaded up on the server, and I can play them from anywhere in the building that I am.

I haven't run Media player on the ePods with MP3s myself, so I am not 100% sure this would work. I could probably do it with RealAudio player as well (I've done it for RealMedia files).

If you wanted to use your ePods as an MP3 player this is one way to get alot of storage without tacking on lots of CF space.

Try it at http://www.net-earnings.com/mp3/

Tell me if it works on ePods. If it does I'll add some kind of playlist functionality.

Won't work on the epod... no working epod media player to embed. Now, if you run an apache server with mod_mp3, and find a stream-reading ce mp3 player, then you could have something. It'd probably be easiest just to make a windows share (or samba) and get mp3s/playlists off of that though. Also, if anyone gets sound to work over terminal services that would be another posibility. I think that xaudio and hum (which is just repackaged xaudio) are the only players available now.

What works for me is streaming audio from a mapped drive with xaudio. Works great although it's a pity there aren't two speakers

I have a similar type site setup for my work. Webpage streams mp3 files, etc.

Has anyone found a solution for this on the ePod yet? An mp3 client that will accept playlists w/ URLs is the best option...

Thanks, stigg

I suggest you try xaudio before putting too much work into this. I found the sound quality of the epod to be unacceptable. I hooked it up to a stereo receiver and it was awful. I gave up on making epods into an mp3 player after that. I never tried with headphones..

The Audrey's sound output is much, much better.

However, check out the thread started by the BE300 guy. They got windows media player working on a machine similar to the epod. Maybe they know what needs to be done.
