The inconceivable: has anyone dropped their Epods yet?
Posted from my EPODS

New MessageThe inconceivable: has anyone dropped their Epods yet? (modified 0 times) poor college student
Well I just received my Epods today, and really love it - great for schoolwork. But, to be honest it looks awfully fragile, so I thought it was a great question to ask.

Has anyone ever dropped theirs? If so, how far? And, did your Epods sustain any damage?

THANKS,
Poor College Student

I dropped my epod twice. once was very hard. it fell on hard concrete floor. I would say it fell about 2 feet. everything was ok though, other than scratches on the side.

as long as you don't break anything, i think it can survive a few falls. anyone wanna try drop it 6 feet? :)

I saw this thread going and it made me curious, so i took my only epod up to the top of my apartment building and dropped it, which is six stories tall to my surprise not only did it not sustain any damage it made it better! now it has wireless internet at broadband speed, no wires or phone lines to plug into just turn it on and there it is! im serious now i can watch streaming porn video feeds off the internet and its like watching tv! AMAZING! i suggest everyone take their epod and drop it from the top of a building or better yet throw it!!

later,
Mike

P.S. i think it has 32 bit color now too!!!

I didn't believe that an ePods could possibly withstand such a fall, so to prove Mike wrong, I dropped my only ePods as well.

Imagine my amazement when the ePods came though unscathed!! As a bonus, I drove over it with the minivan a couple of times as well. I can't be sure, but I think it runs faster now!!

I removed the standard power supply and battery and attached a Tesla Coil and now I have revved the CPU up to 250 MHz.

I put mine in the freezer for 4 hours, 7 minutes and 22 seconds and the LCD display changed from DSTN to a TFT - WOW!

How crazy, mentalmike! I just did the exact same thing and it increased the value of my eBay auction 250%!

I don't have an Epods, I missed chance to grab one at the $199 price. However, I was still interested in testing the shock resistance of the Epods, so I went to eBay and printed out a picture of an Epods, taped it to a brick (cheaper and easier to obtain than computer hardware) and threw it out the window of my car while going down the road at 35MPH. The impact didn't do any immediately noticeable damage to the brick. I would have examined it more closely to determine the state of the Epods picture but the pedestrian I hit with it was shouting threats against my personal safety, so I hauled ass out of there. So much for determining the durability of an Epods.

Um, guys (and gals) I tried mentalmike's test, and my ePods didn't fair quite as well. I didn't have a 6 story building to use, so i used a 3 story and did it twice. I've taped all the bits back in place, well where I think they want (ain't duct tape great?) but I don't get anything on the display. I think the processor must be running way too fast for the display controller to keep up. It did get rid of that darned clicking from the speaker when I touched the screen though, that's an improvement. I'm guessing i need to slow down the CPU now. Anyone know if AOL is available for WinCE 2.12?

I decided I didn't believe the durability tests of everyone else could fare so well, so I decided to hook my epods wirelessly through my network and running Terminal Services drop my INSTEAD my desktop computer from a 6 story apartment building -- watching from my epods I noticed nothing unusual as I released it, but i'll be damned it landed in a bush and some thief ran off with my PC.

I tried mentalmike's Poop Test v1.0 and I've rinsed, and soft reset, and hard reset a hundred times... but I still have hepatitis! Has anyone found a workaround for this...?

Yes, lift pin 32 of the poop and disconnect the battery for an hour.

Since MentalMikes tests have proved to be succesful. I decided to run a few tests of my own. i put it over a fire on my stove to see how long it would burn and to my suprise a cdrw drve was mas magically put in and it now can burn cds. i dropped my borrito on it and it now I can order fast food through it. AMAZIN! aFTER THESE TESTS I decided to do mentalmikes versiona nd i dropped it from my roof. it is now cracked and broken and smells like taco bell.
