motherboard revision

all right i know this has been discussed before but i'm a little confused on it right now. what rev of the mb's can be upgraded to 32 meg ram and which ones cant. and officially what revisions of the mb are there?

Both can -- v1.1 is harder since the memory speed is more crucial to stable operation and all caps are necessary to be soldered in as well. Version 1.2 is a little more forgiving with memory speed and only 1 or 2 caps are really "required" for it to operate properly.

ok, so pretty much all the updates i've read about have been on 1.2 boards? and the 1.2 upgrade does it need cap's too? i've not read that in the articles, but i could be wrong.

They are recommended for both -- but you can probably get away more without having them on the v1.2 upgrade.
