HELP with Proxim Wireless
Cant get connected

New MessageHELP with Proxim Wireless (modified 0 times) naysayer
Have Win95 Desktop with Proxim Symphony Wireless PCI Card in it. Seems to be working fine.

Have Epod with version 1.02 hack, updated proxim.dll, and the proxim properies/diagnostic app,
i run the site survey tool in the app to find the master and it says i am out of range, when i am sitting right next to the master.
Cant seem to network map the shared files in the epod either, i use,
net use (local name) (backslash) (blackslash)remote name

I cant even get anything to come up on the networking map in the software on the desktop.

PLease help me, i want to file share, and internet connection share.

I used Internet Connection Sharing in Win 98 SE to build my wireless network - an old 486 laptop, ethernet PCMCIA card, wireless card.

I just followed the instructions from the Proxim site:

http://www.proxim.com/support/symphony/techtips/win98se/index.shtml

Unfortunately, I replaced my Proxim cards with Nokia 802.11 compatible C020 cards before I got my ePods. I am using the same network setup with the Nokias (just not with my ePod).

Not sure if this helps at all, but try the tipsheet from the link above...

How did you get the Symphony card to work on the epod? I am having a problem where the icon is in the task bar but it dissapears after about 5 sec. You mentioned a proxim properties/diag app...what is that? Is it on the EPOD?Do you have a small icon in your task bar???
any help would be appreciated!!
Thanx!

I've got the proxim symphony card running in the epods. I'm using win98se
with internet connection sharing and a proxim PCI card. The proxim w98
software never shows the epods. On my IBM Z50, I get an icon in the task
bar that I can use to set the remote password, etc. I never see that on the
epods. I've loaded netforce, which gives a lot of network diagnostics stuff
from:
http://www.ruksun.com
I think it is a demo or timebombed, but works great while you have it.
Does anyone get to the password entry from the epods? Does anyone get the
signal strength test from epods? I see these on the z50, and only get 9%
signal strength, even with the units inches or feet apart.
