MS PIM Today?
Can anyone install this?

New MessageMS PIM Today? (modified 0 times) amsalp
Hi,
i've been trying to install Microsoft PIM today.
It's part of the plus package here:
http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/downloads/pluspack.asp

the PIM installs, but no matter where I install it, or try to put the PIMSTORE.DLL,
the programs always says:
"can't find PINSTORE.DLL"
where does this file need to go???

Thanks

Probably in ROM -- something that can't be done.

Question for the Windows software gurus...

Do DLL's like the one above need to be registered? I've had similar experiences where the DLL is present in the current path, but could not be found by the application.

I don't understand how this needs to
be in ROM.
This is clearly an application,
it is part of Plus!
It is simply installing the
PIMSTORE.DLL file in \windows.
That is apparently wrong.
I've tried putting it in Program Files\Plus!
and several others.
This is NOT an embedded program.
The other programs in Plus installed
properly.

I have the file, just don't which
directory it should go in.
Anyone else got an idea?

Then it isn't for the right build of Windows CE for the epods and can't read/execute it correctly.

There is a demo version for Pocket Organizer 2000 2.4.1 by O.K.SOFT on the CE4You web site. It has versions for Handheld PC { SH3 MIPS ARM • SH3 MIPS (2.0) } H/PC 2000 { ARM }.

When I down loaded it, it also contains POOM - Library from Microsoft (Pocket Outlook Object Manager). It has instructions for installing the POOM-Library which is (or contains) pimstore.dll.

I was not real clear on their instructions and had problems. But from reading the information they provided, it sure looks like pimstore.dll is available for an HP/C MIPS platform. Anyone want to give installation a shot?

I suppose the pimstore.dll itself may have dependancies on other DLLs that would normally be in ROM, but thats just a wild guess.

I tried installing it, but it could never find the pimstore.dll file no matter what I did.

If someone can figure this one out, it would be great as the price on the softw is not so bad and it looks like a lot of thought has gone into it.

This is just a guess, but I suspect that it is trying to use the underlying stuff that is supposed to be in CE 2.11. That is, all the Pocket Outlook stuff. I've tried to get various PIM "extenders" working, and they all bitch about various DLLs being missing. Those DLLs would be there if Outlook were there. In other words, I suspect that POOM is intended to run *on top of* the apps that are sadly missing from our ROMs.
