Connection before hack?
dailup is flaking out after ppp - connect epods login???

New MessageConnection before hack? (modified 0 times) hydra
I've been trying to log on using two different ISP's to get hotmail & download files for the easy hack. My problem is that my epod is dissconnecting shortly after login or after an unsuccessful login attempt. When I tried using a terminal session I got a successfull ppp session started. What's the deal? Is there some additional challenge and response going on after initial dailup login?

I was hoping to avoid havin to use my ir port to do this, because my laptop isn't running a version of linux which will support that (it's a Toshiba and I've had some problems getting it configured to use x windows) Has anyone else run into this specific problem before?

I'm hoping to rule out a modem problem here.

Thanks for any info ahead of time

Kat-

Sorry to see that no one has replied yet. I just received my Epods today, (Nieman Marcus 1-31-01 order date)and I have the exact same problem. It connects for about two seconds and then disconnects every time. Was your modem already installed in the Epods? Mine was, and I did not receive the CD that was mentioned in the modem installation directions. Has this been the case for everyone? So, I don't know if we're missing files that are on the CD or what. Not much fun when you can't even get online and hack some more.

To all the kind epoders - please help us lowly newbies.
Thanks

If you haven't figured it out, configure your dialup properties to pop up terminal screen AFTER modem connects. Then enter your username and password. Then as soon as you see jumbled letters, select OK. If you don't select OK quick enough it won't work.
Took all last night of seraching the boards to find someone with a similar problem and a answer.

Hey, have you had any luck with your IR syncing? I have a Dell inspiron notebook with IR, and the Dell sees it. . .but, the EPOD tries to connect and can't. I have set up a direct connection with IR instead of com1. Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks,
ouzome
