2.04 Crashes My Desktop....

New Message2.04 Crashes My Desktop.... (modified 0 times) SiliconIce
I can't view the contents of the 2.04 hack folders without crashing my machine (done it half dozen times in a row now and it makes me mad...)

What could cause this? I just click explore to the Program Files directory and if i open either folder games or the other one, I just get a locked up machine...this is crazy. Baffles me...

SiliconIce,
First of all, what OS are you running on your desktop? Sound like you've got a serial port conflict if you're trying to to view the contents of your epods through Activesync. If the problem is occuring while your Activesyncing to your epods, I suggest uninstalling activesync and reinstalling it. Otherwise, look for conflicts on your desktop (com ports, IRQ's...) which may be causing a communication problem between your desktop and your epods. Good luck.

no, no, no it's a much simpler problem than that.

I downloaded the zip, unzipped it on my PC, and decided to look and see what I had just unzipped. Opened the folder (in Windows explorer, same way I would If I had never touched an epod) and I crashed. Did it 6 or 7 more times because I was determined to get a look....crash every time I open the folder. It's just your oridinary file folder on a PC. I am running WinME, maybe it's the culprit. Async was not running, no epod connected, nothing. I could only check the contents from a DOS prompt. Unzipped a few more times, re downloaded, same problem. Stupidly I went ahead and did the 2.04 hack without knowing if the files were good or not.

Well, a little more information about Windows ME...

I downloaded the punzip.exe program, and every time I try to browse the directory containing that particular file, named as such, Windows Explorer on Windows ME gets an exception.

If I rename the file to punzip_exe, then Windows Explorer is fine. I have reproduced this any number of times, and I was simply happy to find a work-around for the crash.

The Batteship.exe binary in the 2.04 hack (files204\Program Files\Games\Battelship.exe) shows the same problem on Windows ME.
