Car Adapter (cigarette plug)?

New MessageCar Adapter (cigarette plug)? (modified 0 times) SiliconIce
Anyone made a car adapter for their epod?

Is there one that will work that I can buy somewhere?

Well, depending on what your car puts out voltage wise, it might work to just hook it up. If you lose power, no big deal because it just switches to battery. I know that I-Openers could run at the 12-14 volts that cars put out even though their bricks put out 19v DC. That said, I'm no electrician (by a long shot), and I imagine there might be some problems with inputting about 50% more power than the brick would. I'm guessing you could rig up an easy device with resistors to bring it down to 10V, but I wouldn't rely on my advice to make something like that :) ... either way, it'll be a heck of a lot easier than boosting the power like you had to do with the I-Opener if you wanted sound.

You can always use a DC to AC power inverter and that should work just as well. I have one listed on my site for $29. I've seen it at Radio Shack for as much as $100.

Check it out at http://www.mfet.net

Though that's a pretty good price, going DC->AC->DC would seem a little redundant wouldn't it?

Search the archives. This was covered. Someone even posted the part number of the Radio Shack DC adaptor that worked perfectly, as I recall.

zhensel: it's just nice so you can use it for pretty much anything that you don't have a car adapter for, yet you may have a DC plug. That way you don't need a separate car adapter for your cell phone, laptop, or even epods.
