MPEG: MicroDrive vs. Flash

New MessageMPEG: MicroDrive vs. Flash (modified 0 times) SiliconIce
I know that the MicroDrive is supposed to reduce battery about 15-20%, but this assumes how much usage?

How about for MPEG (PocketTV), how will the MicroDrive fare compared to a compact flash card?

(I mean for continuous streaming access like watching movies)

dont take this the wrong way, but if you bought a big microdrive or cf card to watch movies on your epods, you spent your money foolishly. yes you can watch mpg files on your epods, but it is more of a novelty than anything else. it's just not powerful enough to use as this IMO, unless you like watching pure blur :)

Yeah -- why not just spend $700 and get the HP laptop and you'll have an upgradeable 5gig hard drive plus a DVD drive.

Well, I recently won Visual Studio as a prize and I already own it. I have $179 on ebay so far. Just wondering, I checked and MicroDrives go for about the same price. So, costing me nothing just about, I was thinking of getting one. Plus, I can use it in all sorts of ways besides epod of course. Actually, I do not have $700 for a laptop, or else I would get one. I was thinking of selling my epod (even though it is so cool...) if I got enough for my Visual Studio that I could get $700. But it's not gonna happen and epods are worth less now...Yes, the movies would be blurry. But it's just the "cool factor" I guess.

Anyway, I may not even get one (just considering).
