Any Active VB Development Going On?

New MessageAny Active VB Development Going On? (modified 0 times) Curt Lindner
I've followed all the threads from about a month ago concerning getting the embedded VB environment up and working properly, and I'm wondering if anyone has been doing any development of substance.

What I'm looking to do is share experience with how to best get programs onto the ePods, and find out if there are any good 3rd party controls available.

I'd love to work on a calendar program (that's what the wife wants), since it would be a great use for the device.

Also, I'd like to know the best way to set up the install files so that they can be directly executed on the ePods, rather than through the ActiveSync connection.

Also, is there a way to create an .exe file, rather than the .vb which must be associated with the pvbload.exe file?

I've used the install wizard, and the end user would still have to associate the .vb file before it will run. Also, there seems to be no way to have a custom icon for each project?

So, calling all VB folks!!

Unfortunately most of my development time is spent on PocketPC applications. I don't know of any third party controls that specifically work for the 2.1x environments. Also, I have not yet developed a single app for my ePod, though I do have the emulator and sdk installed on my system. I'll look into the Calendar App idea you have and see what it would take.

I'm a developer for hpc units.

no you can't create exe programs

- yes there are controls available

- the development environment comes with an install program but if you don't want to use it then you will need to buy a 3rd party application for installing applicatons right on the device

- if you want to have an exacutable with an icon Then you will need to create a small c application and have it open your application.
