I have a prehacked epods and a new EC2T. The main problem is I get no link lite except for a power on flicker when it initializes. I have not preformed an active sync, (it had been preformed by the original owner when he had hacked it). He had connected with the modem (only) so i assume the pcmcia slot works. I have read most all the post regarding DHCP and/or EC2T and the epods. I am rather experienced at networking, and am trying to connect thru a working win2000 pro ics/nat network, I have tried static and dhcp setting but all i seem to get is the flicker of the link lite on power on. It just seems to be pissed off that it does not see the modem in the pcmcia slot to connect to the internet with. Are these indicatators pointing toward a rehack? Any suggestions?

I have the same problem too... I notice the light goes on temporarily at power up, and then shut's off. During the second or two where the light is on, I noticed that it seems to be working fine (if I send activity over the LAN, it notices it fine).

Does anybody know how to solve it?

I had the same problem- turned out it was a bad dongle. (Weird- I know, because it worked fine for just a split second at startup, same as mine)

But anyway, I got another EC2T, swapped the dongles, and it worked just fine. I'd say go get another card...

I was hoping it would be that easy (a hardware problem) the device (EC2T) works fine with another laptop. We are using it fine with the dongle now. Any one else have a suggestion? Next move is to grrrrrrr HARD RESET and rehack unless someone can point me to the registry entries to resolve this issue....

10hrs till reset and counting.........

Sorry if this double posts... but the first response seemed to get lost in the neverland (did not log on)

I have a solution. You don't need a dongle if you think you'll use your EC2T exclusively.

Check out how to do this at:

http://www.solarfish.com/epods/index.htm

Send me feedback if you like the page.

I just popped a linksys EC2T into my epod and it asks for a driver name. If I make one up it just asks again next time I pop it in. If I type 'ne2000' it stops asking - *HOWEVER* - I am unable to maintain a link with my 3com officeconnect 10/100 hub. When I first insert the ethernet card I get a link for a few seconds and then it goes away.

I have tried DHCP as well as a static address to no avail.

am I missing something? Should I have to type in a driver name? I have also typed in 'ne2000.dll' with the same results...

any pointers would be GREATLY appreciated as this thing works fine otherwise.

I personally broke an EC2T before I got a project right (you can view it at http://solarfish.com/epods/index.htm ) and I knew I can messed up the first card because I broke out all the dongle connectors (see the site above for why, but the way on the site is the result of royally screwing up the first time) and when I inserted it is asked for a driver. This (in my case anyway) means your card is hosed or there's something wrong with your epods. Try a new card if you can, otherwise e-mail me.

Also, diskfloppy, I assume you've tried a different ethernet cable and plugged it into a different port on your hub/switch/router?

Anyone try these beta drivers from linksys?

I don't have an ec2t but they say these drivers are for ce 2.0...

I'll be glad to take anyone's unused dongle that results from this hack off of their hands... I'd do the hack, but I need to be able to put in a wireless ethernet card now and then...

I have two dongles that will never be used. I will give them you whomever pays shipping. Diskfloppy hasn't gotten back to me but he's got dibs on one if he wants it.

Also: with all of the ePods I've used the linksys EC2T NEVER asked for a driver. Except for the one where I had burned the chipset out. Asking for a driver means your epods doesn't know what driver to use (obviously) though the EC2T is part of its repertoire. If it asks for a driver your card is probably screwed but a free dongle is in the mail for the first two people that send me a self addressed stamped package that will fit that monstrosity of a dongle... Plus you can do my project at http://www.solarfish.com/epods/index.htm if you desolder the RJ45 jack from the dongle...

Anyone solved the no-link-lite problem, or did a doggle replacement fix the problems?
