Epod repair
Just got it, but its broken...

New MessageEpod repair (modified 0 times) sadlerjon
Well, I just got my ePod that I purchased from Ebay. Unfortunately, UPS mangled it and shattered the LCD. Other than the broken screen, it seems ok. Fortunately, it was insured so UPS will pay. However, I'm wondering (if I get to keep the carcass) where I could get it repaired...

Anyone know?

UPS is going to take it back when they inspect it before issuing the claim check.

sadlerjon,
I've been looking for an ePod to part out for experimentation. Please contact me if you'd like to get rid of the dead one. Thanks

If indeed UPS is responsible, get a new ePods. If not... you would be best off to buy a new ePods if you have a use for one because a backlight (fluorescent) display of that nature with a four-in/out touch screen overlay wiring sequence is probably going to cost you as much as a new ePods and eZex

(the Korean company that made them... [let's all give props where they're due; this was an easy and inexpensive modification to devices none of us paid enough for] will not warranty anything other than a fully supported device, meaning that unless you want to drop $650 for a manufacturer's sample you will have to count your blessings...) could care less.

LCDs, even the DSTN ones like the ePods are not cheap, and could easily account for half of the manufacturing cost (which is probably very much over the total price of an ePods). So, count your $199 good fortune, hope that someone comes out with a CE 3.0 build for them, and e-mail me if you like the site I wrote about integrating your 10/T network card...

Suffice it to say, free lunches are great if you can get them, otherwise, UPS has a lot of money...

also, I guess I didn't read your post that thoroughly (sorry) but it's not that hard to detach/reattach your display. See Glitch's site...

I can walk you through it if you want...

sadlerjon,

I might be interested in your plight, one way or another. I have a possibly dead epod, with a perfectly good lcd. After a failed memory upgrade, I get nothing. But I am 100% positive that it is not the screen. I would be interested in one of two possibilities.

1) Sell you my screen (have UPS pay for it) at a decent price to recoup some of my losses,

-OR-

2) If you are able to keep your dead epod when UPS replaces it, buy your mainboard from you.

If you are interested (or if anyone else is) you can email me at boykster@jetcity.com

cheers,

boykster

Think I just fried mine too. Was attempting to recover from a failed 2.04 hack. Think I fried the DOC. Anyway it wont power up anymore. There went $300. Maybe I'll part it out if I cant get it going. If you got parts or need parts drop me a line. PenclRtist@AOL.COM
