Mp3s and epods?

Does anyone use their epods to play mp3s with speaker output?
I have found that when I plug mine into speakers, depending on the file, there is a lot of noise and not much volume.

Just wondering if anyone used theirs for something like this, I might try to set up mine for mp3s.

Sounds familiar. I installed XAudio on my ePods to play mp3s from a shared network drive and plugged the headphone output into a Bose WaveRadio. Even with the ePods volume at its maximum, I had to double the volume on the Bose just to get it to levels that were equivalent to CDs that I have played through the same input. I think the ePods internal speaker was louder. As for sound quality, it's not bad; no worse than the headphone/line output from the integrated sound on my laptop.

Maybe I'll encode my mp3s to have really loud volume.
If I turn up my speakers (my Altec PC ones) I hear A LOT of noise when the music is a good volume.

I have a Linksys wireless LAN working with the easy 1.02 WinCE shell hack and IE4.

How can I do streaming MP3s? The play list from my.mp3.com downloads and I have attempted to assign the file type to xaudio.

How can I see shared network drives?

i'm curious, dont take this the wrong way either, but why do you wanna play mp3's through the epods, if you have a computer thre it will decode them about a zillion times better than the epods, and just about any $3 pair of desktop speakers sounds better than those on the epods. i've been confused about the mp3 thing since day one.

It's like a lot of things, epods is not very good at anything like games, mp3s, mpeg, etc. but it can do them sort of.
It's just neat to mess around with and a possible use for my epod. Most of the time, it sits in a drawer so I was looking to to something with it. It's not ideal but you know...it's more for the doing it than the use. I bought my epod for the fun of it and am always looking for more uses.

Oh, and I was going to hook some speakers to the epod to use as a sort of "mp3 stereo."
(just for the heck of it)
