I know it's a Stylistic 1200 forum, but this is the most appropriate place I've found for this question.
Stylistic 1000 (486/100) machines are now readily available for $100 or less and fit the bill nicely for utility machines. I have a couple I'd like to run some home automation programs on. BUT, I've been unable to get linux ported to one.
Most of the low-cost boxes don't have floppy or cdrom interface port replicators, so the best way I can see to get linux ported is by moving the pcmcia disk to another laptop, copying the image to that and them moving it back.
My problems have been getting it to boot from the pcmcia disk as well as getting it installed on the pcmcia disk. These commonly have a 340 Mbyte pcmcia disk so there's plenty of room, but it's not generous. If anyone has gotten the images on one ,I'd appreciate knowing how.
TIA, JoMc
