Battery pack surgery / screen protector removal

Has anyone done surgery on their 1200 battery pack? I've got one that's totally dead, I'm thinking that it might just be a loose wire inside or blown fuse inside? It seems like the pack is sealed up pretty good, I'm wondering if anyone has opened theirs up yet, and if so what to expect?

I also wanted to know if anyone can recommend a good cleaner, or alternative procedure for removing that sticky stuff left behind when you take off the screen protector. I've got quite a few to clean, and one that I tried to scrape off with a razor scratched the screen :(

Thanks in advance for any help

I have not been into the Fujitsu battery pack yet but I have been in others. It only takes one open cell in the pack to make the unit dead. You can order replacement cells, try ebay or just do a search on google. I think these packs use the Lithium Ion type. Also, most battery packs do have a fuse inside and some have a thermal fuse to open the circuit if the pack gets too hot

Try some lens cleaner to get the goo off the screen.

I just pulled apart my battery (so I can mod it to fit in a smaller place (shorter and taller) You can easily pop it open. Set it so the bottom (the part with the part number/label) is up. stick a small knife in the corner on the inboard side (the end closest to the connector) there is room there, just pry up, and work your way around.

Don't dig too deeply, just under the edge. the whole piece will pop off eventually intact...like a lid.

To get the batteries out, carefully pry them up...they are glued to the bottom of the case using sticky tape.

Office depot sells a laptop screen cleaner.

But the screen on the fuji 1200 is not the laptop screen, it is simply a plastic cover about 1/4 or 1/8 inch thick, separate from the lcd. You can try to find some plastic polisher to fix the scratches...that is what I need to do.
