Street Atlas 9.0 on Point 510

Does anyone know how I can get Delorme Street Atlas 9.0 to load the maps on the point? I have the software working and seeing the GPS but when I try to extract the maps to the drive I get an error that it can't find the cd. I have copied the entire cd-rom to the hard drive but I get no option to select a different directory.

Has anyone used this program with one of these webpads?

You may want to surf google for the answer to the question "street atlas no cd". It will likely involve a registry hack or multiple hacks.

I have both Garmin Mapsource US Road & Rec and Mickey$oft's Streets & Trips 2002 on my 510. I just have to twiddle the GPS's settings between Garmin and NMEA modes for my eTrex. It may not matter since got it to install, but I had to first copy the Mapsource CD contents onto the 510's drive, then tweak the registry to tell it where to find the image files. For the S&T2002 I had to do an admin install on a box that had a real CD drive, then install to the 510 via my LAN.

Hope this helps. I had to figure it out on my own and realize maybe others would benefit from my struggles.

Search your hard drive install folder for a program called osmosis.exe after you install street atlas. (Should be in the \utils folder.) Run the program and type the path that you want to use in place of the CD. This program has been included with street atlas going back to 4.0 and I have it with 8.0, so I'm assuming you have it with 9.0. If you don't, e-mail me and I'll send you a copy.

Isn't it easier just make the ISO file from CD (using WinImage or WinIso)? Copy the file to the HD (since you already copied the whole CD content to 510, HD space is not the issue to you), then install DAEMON Tools (from http://www.daemon-tools.net/main.htm, free) to mount the ISO file as virtual CD, and install the software. You can do this way for all applications doing CD check or CD reading.
