I am thinking about buying a Point 510 to use to access my win2k desktop ovar an 802.11b network. Say i buy a 510 off of ebay, what would i need to do to be able to do this? What wireless NIC should i use, what software will i need to load, etc. Before shelling out the money, i want to find out exactly how much this is going to cost in total, and whether there are cheaper/better options. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

Thumbs up! Been using a couple of these for this purpose for a while now with great success. I actually run the RDC client connected to a Win2K Advanced Server running Terminal Services. I have also used the RDC to a WinXP Pro machine very successfully as well. I run the AT&T/Lucent/Orinoco/Agere WaveLAN NICs and APs, but I hear that there are a number of others that work.

BTW, this works well enough that I'm able to do handwriting recognition on the RDC OfficeXP tools and it works quite well.

Cheers!
