Greetings,

Does anyone know how to enable the IR function on an LT? I've tried the generic drivers - and while they install, I don't get any IR activity.

chances are your problem lies in ether your software or your settings ether bios or windows. Just rember that ONBOARD irda uses an IRQ which is not used by a PORT. for example port 1 for external serial com1, port 2 or the irda but it needs a phantom irq or IRDA handling?? dont ask? often irq5 I believe you'll find information on the microsoft site about IRDA and windows. Oh ya if you got win95x FORGET about irda its way to much trouble trying to get it to work. win98 any thing will work better. win98se would be your best bet. YES it will run slow but every thing WILL work. or at least you'll have an easyer time trying to get every thing to work.

I guess I need the manufacturer and model of the IR device in the LT then I'll be on the way - the standard Microsoft one doesn't seem to work.

Anybody know what it is?

Had the same Problem. Solved it by first installing PNP infrared device. After this you have to enter Bios Setup and configure your serial port B for IRDA. This is what Fujitsu say about it:

"I cannot communicate with an IrDA peripheral in Windows 95/98. What's wrong?

The first thing to make sure of is that the peripheral you are trying to communicate with is IrDA 1.0 or 1.1 compatible.

Next, you should check the BIOS configuration of the IrDA port. The serial port B should be set to IrDA enabled, with avalid I/O address set.

After you?ve done this, you need to start the Windows IrDA monitor by using the infrared icon in the control panel. Alsomake sure that the infrared monitor is not disabled. If infrared is disabled, you will need to go to the Options tab andselect the related COM port. Once you connect with another IrDA device, Windows will make a sound and a description of theIrDA peripheral will appear in the infrared monitor."

Hope that helps

Cheers
