| Thanks to all the detailed instructions here, I got a cheap, used 20 gb IBM travelstar from www.comp-recycle.com for $35 and installed in my Fujitsu 1200 over the weekend. I bought a 44 pin to 40 pin IDE adapter for $6.99 from CompUSA and made the travelstar the slave drive in a normal PC, fdisked it, formatted it with the system and transferred all the installation software to it including the pen driver and handwriting recognition software and drivers, installed it into the tablet pc and ignored the BIOS. It booted to the C: prompt and I installed Windows 98 from the folder and then the drivers and when it was done I had the 20 gig drive nicely residing in it. Time to load up goodies like MS Streets and MP3s. Thank you, all of you, for your very detailed instructions, especially about treating the ribbon inside the tablet pc gently. | |
